One of the main causes of power outages and half power are loose or improper connections at the meter. This can make lights flicker and lower the homes voltage. Have the power company check first and call us if they suggest an electrician.
Any electrician will tell you, smoke alarms provide a critical early warning of fire, allowing additional time to escape. National estimates of reported fires derived from the National Fire Incident Reporting System (NFIRS) and the National Fire Protection Association’s (NFPA’s) fire department survey show that in 2009-2013, fires in homes with no smoke alarms caused an average of 940 deaths per year (38% of home fire deaths).

Electrical problems often show signs before they become more serious. One of the first early warning signs is dimming and or flickering lights. When a wire is lose and trying to make contact, it will cause lights to flicker. Electrical wires burning have a very distinctive smell. It is almost like a burning fishy smell, so keep an eye (and nose) out for these signs and above all ask an electrician if you are concerned.
