Commercial electrical work is quite different from Residential work. While we are able to use standard wire throughout a home, we cannot run standard romex in a commercial job. The National Electrical Code is strict on allowing anything that is not protected, even low voltage cable must be plenum rated. All wires must be ran in a metallic cable or sleeved in metal conduit. Some commercial settings may be in places that house combustible equipment. In this case, it is required to use special devices and equipment that can control spark.
Also when working in any commercial setting it is extremely important to be safety conscious and follow the rules of the job site.
The conduit used in commercial electrical work may require several bends to get it to where it needs to go. To some of us electricians, pipe bending is an art, but it requires one to be skilled at using a pipe bender and sometimes it can be difficult to get that perfect “saddle bend” needed to hop over another pipe or obstacle.
